AMU Alumni Germany


1. Name and Legal Status

1.1. The organization is registered under the name AMU Alumni Germany (hereinafter “the Association”).
1.2. The Association is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious alumni network representing graduates, former students, faculty, and affiliates of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India residing in Germany.
1.3. The Association shall comply with the applicable laws and regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany.


2. Objectives

2.1. To foster networking, professional development, and cultural exchange among AMU alumni in Germany.
2.2. To maintain and strengthen the bond between AMU and its alumni.
2.3. To provide a platform for knowledge-sharing, career support, and mentorship.
2.4. To organize cultural, educational, and social events in Germany.
2.5. To engage in charitable, academic, and community development initiatives.


3. Membership

3.1. Eligibility:

  • Open to all former students, graduates, researchers, exchange scholars, and faculty of AMU.

  • Friends and well-wishers of AMU may be admitted as “Associate Members” without voting rights.

3.2. Application:

  • Interested individuals must submit a membership form and pay the applicable membership fee (if any).

3.3. Rights of Members:

  • Participate in meetings, events, and activities.

  • Vote in elections and general meetings (except Associate Members).

  • Access official communications and resources.

3.4. Duties of Members:

  • Uphold the mission and values of the Association.

  • Abide by these Terms and Conditions.

  • Pay membership dues (if applicable) on time.

3.5. Termination of Membership:
Membership may end by resignation, non-payment of dues, violation of rules, or actions that harm the reputation or objectives of the Association.


4. Governance and Structure

4.1. The Association shall be governed by an Executive Committee (EC) elected by the General Body.
4.2. The EC shall include, at minimum, the following positions:

  • President

  • Vice President

  • General Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Event Coordinator / Cultural Secretary

  • Other members as deemed necessary

4.3. Elections:

  • Elections shall be conducted every [2/3] years through a democratic process.

  • Only full members in good standing are eligible to vote and contest.

4.4. Meetings:

  • General Body Meetings (GBM) shall be held at least once a year.

  • EC meetings shall be held periodically to plan and review activities.


5. Finance and Contributions

5.1. The Association is a non-profit body; funds shall be used solely for official purposes.
5.2. Sources of income include membership fees, voluntary donations, sponsorships, and event contributions.
5.3. The Treasurer shall maintain transparent financial records and present annual statements to the General Body.
5.4. No member shall personally benefit financially from the Association’s income or assets.


6. Events and Activities

6.1. The Association may organize cultural, academic, professional, and social events.
6.2. Participation may be subject to registration fees and compliance with event-specific rules.
6.3. The Association reserves the right to deny entry or remove individuals engaging in misconduct during events.


7. Code of Conduct

7.1. Members shall respect the values of AMU and the Association.
7.2. Discrimination, harassment, hate speech, or political/religious propaganda within Association activities is strictly prohibited.
7.3. Professional networking and collaboration are encouraged, but misuse of the platform for personal gain, spamming, or exploitation is not allowed.
7.4. Members are expected to represent the Association in a respectful and dignified manner.


8. Data Protection & Privacy

8.1. The Association will collect and process members’ personal data (e.g., name, contact details, academic background) only for legitimate purposes.
8.2. Data shall not be shared with third parties without consent, except where legally required.
8.3. Members may request access, correction, or deletion of their data in accordance with GDPR.


9. Amendments

9.1. Any amendments to these Terms and Conditions must be proposed by the Executive Committee or at least one-third of the members.
9.2. Amendments shall be adopted upon approval by a two-thirds majority in the General Body Meeting.


10. Dissolution

10.1. The Association may be dissolved by a two-thirds majority vote of the General Body.
10.2. Upon dissolution, remaining funds shall be donated to a charitable or educational cause aligned with AMU’s values in Germany or India, as decided by the members.


11. Liability

11.1. The Association shall not be held liable for personal losses, injuries, or damages arising from participation in its activities.
11.2. Members participate in activities at their own responsibility.


12. Governing Law

12.1. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
12.2. The place of jurisdiction for all disputes shall be the registered office of the Association.
